Announcing The Second Successful Candidate For BMR: Berlin 2016
The second round of BMR: Berlin saw more than double the amount of applications received from around the region from countries including India, Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
We are ecstatic to announce that Sri Lankan producer Dinelka is the second artist to participate in the bespoke Berlin based residency program. Dinelka was selected by jury members from Border Movement, Goethe-Institut, Ableton, Wild City and the Gebrüder Teichmann after much careful deliberation.
Dinelka will spend 2 months in Berlin under the watchful eye of local mentors who will guide him through the cities music scene supporting him personally and professionally. Here’s what he had to say about being selected:
“This opportunity means a lot to me! I’ve always tried to experiment with my own sounds and I’m very excited about going to Berlin! I have been making lots of plans and am hoping to play some showcases in the city, learn more techniques, make new friends. I am currently working on a laptop orchestra solo session with an artist in Berlin and hopefully I can do some different things during the residency. This is a very big opportunity for me – I’m incredibly motivated to learn lots of new skills – take things back to Sri Lanka and start new projects with my friends.”
You’ll be finding out more about Dinelka soon – in the meantime check out sounds from his latest EP ‘Freeze’ below:
