We had the opportunity to hear a first edit of ‘Rise Up and Run’, Monica Dogra’s recently released solo single, many months ago. The mix was still a bit rough, but the track’s relentless power and urgency, borne on the back of Engine Earz’ pounding bass drum and handclaps and Ms. Dogra’s insistent alto, were unmistakable. But something about the tune didn’t quite click with us on that brief first take.

We just popped over to take a look at what’s going one with our friends at Dhaka Electronic Scene and came up with a couple of fresh remixes from Dhaka’s young new producer, Zayan Khan.

Khan’s gone a UK electro-pop route over the past week, reworking tunes from Sam Smith – best known for his vocals on Disclosure’s breakout hit, Latch – and the Sharna Bass featuring Extraordinary, by Clean Bandit.

There are few acts around town with a sound as nuanced, textured and rich as that of Sundog Project. Their track ‘Bicycle’ released today (Wednesday, 10th September) after much teasing on social media platforms. The foremost thing one notices about the track is its dark, ethereal and ambient quality.  Most of SP’s releases both depict and convey a somber and contemplative mood, as though one’s feet were buried in cold water. Building on that idea of sensory withdrawal, Rahul Das’ compositions circle around existential themes – broadly speaking. The band consists of Anupam Roy (bass/production), Shardul Mehta (drums), Rahul Sainani (guitars) Rahul Das (guitars/vocals/arrangements) and Viraj Mohan (more fuckin’ guitars).  …

There are moments in life when you genuinely believe that the universe is working with you.

It was only a couple of months prior that I was talking to Jivraj Singh regarding ideas for live visuals – we had both stumbled upon a video of Moderat’s first tour where the visuals were displayed on a three screen setup and were curated by Berlin based visual crew Pfadfinderei. And there I was in the middle of July, staring at an email from Border Movement that said I had been selected for the Video Lab in Colombo by Pfadfinderei and would be spending a week under their mentorship. …

After numerous successful sessions at Goethe Institut in Colombo, The Indian edition of Border Movement Lounge is set to launch at Delhi and Kolkata on the 17 and 20 of September respectively. …
